  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened apple sauce
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped yellow onion
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp light brown sugar
  • 2 garlic cloves (crushed)
  • Optional: red pepper flakes and sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Pound each chicken breast to an even thickness of about ½ inch using a meat mallet.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix soy sauce, apple sauce, onion, sesame oil, ginger, brown sugar, garlic, and optional red pepper flakes.
  3. Reserve ¼ cup of the marinade. Add the remaining marinade to the Ziploc bag with the chicken breasts and refrigerate for at least one hour.
  4. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Grill each breast for about 2-3 minutes on each side until cooked through and juices run clear.
